About NetFinders

NetFinders started as a spreadsheet of shops and trades that two people kept recommending to friends in different towns. It is still that, with a search box.

What we do

We keep a directory of independent businesses: shops, trades, workshops, studios and the services around them. Anyone can add a business, and visitors can leave a short note about a visit. We read every submission before it goes live.

How it is paid for

A small number of listings carry an "editor pick" badge, which cannot be bought. There are no paid placements, no ranking auctions and no affiliate links. Hosting costs us about the price of a coffee a week and we cover it ourselves.

What we do not do

• We do not scrape business data from other sites.
• We do not publish email addresses collected from listings.
• We do not remove a truthful note because a business would prefer it gone. We do correct facts: hours, address, services.

Corrections

If something on a listing is wrong, tell us through the contact page with the date the change takes effect. If you would rather not be listed, say so and the listing goes; nobody has to explain why.
